Phil 4.6,7 - what to
do so that our mind and heart are stored in the peace of Christ? (suggested by Pamelasv)
·
"And the peace
of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep
your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4.6,7)
Based on this stretch, how to preserve peace amidst
so many problems?
Many people struggle to put an end to the
stress, anxiety, despair, fear, grief, etc. In particular, many who believe in
Christ are always thinking: "I need to get this".
Many come to see philosophers,
psychologists, psychiatrists, psychoanalysts, etc., take medicine terrible,
full of collateral effects. However, they go from bad to worse.
Then comes the question: in the midst of so
much rush, excitement, fear, etc., as have the mind and the heart saved by
the peace of the Eternal One?
The recipe for achieving this is recorded in the
previous verse:
·
"Be careful
for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." (Phil 4.6).
We shouldn’t be careful about anything, or
trying to keep something or someone under our control. This, in addition to
reveal greater confidence in themselves than in Jesus, shows commitment, as if
such object was our reason for being.
The problem where many individuals refuse to
submit to the Eternal One is because they are enemies of the cross of Christ.
Although they profess to believe in Jesus, they seek Him for convenience,
thinking on what they want from this world. They end up becoming more miserable
that the wicked (1Corinthians 15.19).
This, however, only fills us with anxiety, fear,
etc.
If our happiness is the company of Jesus and the
reason for our joy is to see Him to operate, we don’t
worry about the coming and going of things, because we know that in our hands, will
there always be the need to see Jesus operating in our lives.
In this case, we would be free to leave Jesus
fill us with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience. This would
become us able to support the lives of others, as well as to obtain the
restoration and strengthening of our links with them.
·
"Put on
therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness,
humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and
forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ
forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity,
which is the bond of perfectness. And let
the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one
body; and be ye thankful." (Colossians 3.12-15).
Obviously, obedience to this commandment will
bring the dominion of the Christ’s peace (John 14:27) on our
hearts.
But, what is the peace of Christ?
·
"And all
things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath
given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them;
and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are
ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in
Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God." (2Co 5.18-20).
Note that the Eternal One was in Christ,
reconciling the world to himself without imputing the sin. And Jesus wants
to use us for this.
The problem is that, instead of letting the
peace of Christ (this ministry) ever decide the mode of us deal with those that
Jesus brings to us, we insist on maintaining the maximum of things
under our control. Although we are aware that he earth
is the LORD'S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein
(Psalm 24.1), yet we insist on wanting to introduce our principality within His
kingdom, namely, a kingdom apart from Jesus Christ, where things work out of
our way.
And our goal is appropriate us of the largest
number of things and people that we can in the realm of the Eternal One and
bring all this to our kingdom, where we hope to live feasted splendidly.
As, unfortunately, the majority doesn't see the Eternal
One dominating, they are accepting our domination (to ruin them and
our - Ecc 8.9).
We need to finish with this. So that the
peace of Christ keep us save, we need to renounce any control
on any individual with whom we have contact (analyze Deut 33.36;
Daniel 12.7). Rather than force the individuals to favor us, the
correct is to accept Jesus in harmony with the neighbor through His
Word.
Moreover, what we need to do is to talk with the
Creator One, with gratitude and perseverance, about every event that
involves us and those that He gave us to know so that we can be how to behave
in order that He can express His entire will and power in their
lives through us.
After all, what is our desire to insist on
it?
In addition, whereas none of the plans of
the Eternal may be frustrated (and glories for this - Job 42.2; Isa 43.13),
nothing reasoner that we accept His good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans
12.2). This, in addition to get rid of anxiety, hopelessness, etc., gives us
what really have to there be with us (never forget that our ways are
of death-Proverbs 14.12; 16.25; Isaiah 59.7,8).
