Ephesians 3:10 – How will
the Church do known the Eternal One’s wisdom?
·
“Whereby,
when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) which in
other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto
his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; that
the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his
promise in Christ by the gospel: whereof I was made a minister, according
to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his
power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given,
that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; and
to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from
the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by
Jesus Christ: to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in
heavenly places might be known by the church
the manifold
wisdom of God,” (Ephesians
3.4-10).
Strictly speaking, this is not the church that
will make the manifold wisdom of the Eternal One known by angels, but
Jesus through the Church. Not by what the Church does, but what Jesus does in
and through it.
For you to understand the idea, think in a drop
of rain before falling into the ocean. He is just a drop of water. When falls
into the ocean, it mixes with the millions of droplets that are
there, being impossible to be differentiated from others.
It would only be seen again if it had a will of
its own and decide to insulate itself from the ocean.
Likewise, Jesus is the Vine and we, the branches
(John 15.1). He is the head and we are members of His body (Romans 12.5). While separated, we are
useless and languishing (John 15.3). When, however, we
are grafted in again, we mix us to the rest that are part of the member or the
branch of which were removed. Since then, together, we will grow in
relationships (Ephesians 4.15,16) and expressing to
everybody the riches of Christ that are impossible to be understood through
words (goodness, kindness, gentleness, etc.).
From there, the love of Christ will emanate from
each of the parties that make up Jesus. Nobody within Christ will have
headquarters or need for love, because love is going to have to complete, being
seen in us.
Nobody will desire or need for protection,
because once that in Christ we are all complete (Col 2.10), there will be no fear or
doubt, but only faith. Everyone will know Jesus (Heb 8.10-12), and, thus, there isn’t a need for evidence, confirmation,
etc.
Jesus will confirm us in order that the outsiders
be sure that the church is the pillar and bulwark of the truth (1Tim 3:15). However, within the
Church, is not to be any separation, since only what is true is
revealed and made known.
In the Church, there is only a reality. There isn’t
what is seen in the congregations: believer in Jesus teaching the believer, but
the Church manifesting Christ by where go and living the Gospel (good news about
the end of enmity brought by law - Eph 2.13-15).
See how wisdom is characterized:
·
“The fear of
the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the
knowledge of the holy is understanding.” (Proverbs
9.10).
·
“Howbeit we
speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of
this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: but we speak
the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before
the world unto our glory:” (1Corinthians 2.6,7).
And the Church is the Eternal One’s mistery:
·
“Even the mystery which hath
been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his
saints: to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the
Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:” (Colossians
1.26,27).
Note how the wisdom of the Eternal One is hidden
in mystery, i.e., in the Church, to the extent that this quests to know the Holy
(Jesus) and fear Him. This is why the author of Proverbs warns:
·
“Through
desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.” (Proverbs 18.1).
Who get isolated from Church, is standing
up against the true wisdom, whereas is in the exercise of the fear of the Eternal
One in the hearts of each other that He works His wisdom.
The wisdom of the Eternal One consists in He
taking some to love others, even to the point of feeling sorrow for the
wretchedness, shortages and suffering each other.
They discipline each other with fear, because it
hurts exclude them of communion (see 1 Corinthians 12.22-26), but at the same time it
hurts seeing others suffer. On the other hand, one is happy to be able to
forgive each other, for the privilege of returning to have contact with this member
so precious.
