Gift of Mercy: what is this? Is it a gift for only
ones? How do we fulfill this?
·
"Having then gifts differing according to the
grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the
proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth,
on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth
mercy, with cheerfulness." (Romans 12.6-8).
Certainly the faith,
as well as the mercy, are gifts granted by the Eternal One, which we should be
receiving from Jesus constantly. Otherwise, we will end up trying
to exercise, by ourselves, mercy. Whereas all, without Jesus, are wicked (Isaiah 64.6;
Romans 3.9-18), therefore at the end we’ll
use of cruelty with individuals (Pv 12.10).
It is good to remember that
mercy is to surrender our lives so that individuals around us can overcome
sin in their lives through Jesus and His Word. Mercy means that, instead of us
obliging that each one pay for their sins, we have to give our life in order
that the salvation that Jesus won for they be fulfilled.
However, mercy must be
exercised with joy, i.e., considering as a privilege the fact of suffering reproach for
the name of Jesus (Acts 5.40,41). After all, do you want better thing that to
prove to everyone that where sin abounded, the grace did much more abound (Rm 5.20).
All the gifts are available
to those who believe. The problem is we earnestly search the best gifts (1
Corinthians 12.31),
that is, we place in our lives so that Jesus can manifest them?
