042 - Hebrews 6.4-6 - Who can't be saved and why

Hebrews 6.4-6

·         "Because it is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God, and the virtues of the future, and relapsed, they are again to repentance; therefore, they again crucify the Son of God, and the expose to reproach." (Hebrews 6.4-6).

A lot of confusion there is about this passage of the Bible. After all, many believe that the forgiveness of Jesus is always available for any type of individual.

This, to some extent, it ceases to be true. However, for which there is salvation is necessary, first of all, there is repentance:

·         "And Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost;" (Acts 2.38)

·         "Repenttherefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3.19)

And true repentance comes through the mercy (one of the faces of love).

·         "Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?" (Romans 2.4).

And the love, in turn, constrain based on a sacrifice made.

·         "Because the love of Christ compels us, judging us as well: that if one died for all, then all died." (2Co 5:14).

Anyone who is able to repent of having lived for himself and turn to Jesus can be saved. Comes the question: is there a possibility of someone not to repent?

·         "But they would not listen, and gave me his shoulder rebel, and become deaf ears, not to hear. Yes, they made their hearts like stone of diamond, so you don't hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by his Spirit through the former prophets; then came the great wrath from the LORD of Hosts." (Zechariah 7.11,12).

·         "And it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites and he brought the gods of the sons of Seir, took them to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them. Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent him a prophet who said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of this people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand? And it came to pass, when he to the king, he said: Put yourself for the king's counselor? Shut up! Why would he be smitten? Then stopped the prophet, and said: Well I see that already God decided to destroy thee; because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened to my council." (2Cor 25.14-16).

·         "Similarly, when the righteous doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou not avisaste, he shall die in his sin; and his righteousness, who have practiced, will not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thy hand." (Ez 3.20).

·         "Therefore, I say to you: Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men." (Mt 12.31).

·         "And lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one meal sold his birthright. Because you know that, wanting him even then inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place of repentance, even with tears the sought." (Heb 12.16.17)

·         "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope; because Faithful is he that promised. And let us consider one another to provoke to love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some, before admonishing us to each other; and so much more, as ye see the day approaching. For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses. Of how much sorer punishment you will be judged worthy who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and you have to use profane the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and you insult the Spirit of grace?" (Heb 10.24-29).

·         "If someone come to sin his brother, sin which is not unto death, pray, and God will give life to those who do not sin unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that Bro. All Iniquity is sin, and there is a sin which is not unto death." (1 John 5.16,17)

As you can see, there are sins that are to death, i.e., because there is more chance of repentance.

But what these individuals did to have their hardened hearts as diamond in a way that was impossible to find any place of repentance within them?

In the case of amaziah, see what is said about him:

·         "It came to pass, as you the kingdom already confirmed, slew his servants who killed the king his father;" (2 Cor 25.3).

·         "And it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites and he brought the gods of the sons of Seir, took them to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them." (2 Cor 63.79).

Note how he had the habit of, once again confirmed the victory over the problem, give vent to his thoughts and feelings. i.e., what he served was to occupy the place of Jesus before the people of Israel, as the Pharisees (The husbandmen of the parable below):

·         "But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves: This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance." (Matthew 22.2)

Amaziah did not want the goodness of Jesus who had experience, but the absolute control of the nation of Israel in order to receive glory for himself and dominate everything and everyone.

As for the fair (Ez 3.20), he strayed from the justice of the eternal. Note that we are not dealing with a religious, but someone whose name was written in the book of life (as will be seen below), a fair. Now, if he strayed from what the Eternal had done in it, then it is because he basically loved the award of injustice.

With regard to blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, it is good to remember that Jesus said this to the pharisees after he had used to kindness to a demoniac blind and dumb:

·         "They brought to him, then, a demoniac blind and dumb; and so he healed him, that the blind and dumb spoke and track. And all the people were amazed and said, Is not this the son of David? But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of devils." (Mt 12.22-24).

And who were the Pharisees? A little that really knew, without any shadow of doubt, that Jesus is the Christ:

·         "There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This was replaced by night with Jesus, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come tous; for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him." (John 3.1,2).

·         "In spite of everything, even many of the major believed on him; but they did not confess him because of the Pharisees, lest they should be put out of the synagogue. Because they loved the praise of men more than the glory of God." (John 12.42,43).

·         "Saying, Lord, we remember that that deceiver living yet, said After three days I will rise again. Manda, therefore, that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, not give the case that his disciples go to night, and the escape it, and say to the people: he is risen from the dead; and the last error will be worse than the first. And Pilate said unto them: Ye have the watch: go, keep it as entenderdes. And they went, and held the tomb with the guard, sealing the stone." (Matthew 27.63-66).

·         "Now, the chief priests and the elders and all the council, sought false witness against Jesusto put him to death; and not the thought; though many false witnesses, not the thought..." (Matthew 26.59,60).

·         "So they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled and recognized that they had been with Jesus." (Acts 4.13).

Note that the Pharisees knew and believed that Jesus was a teacher come from the Eternal. They both believed in that, in trying to put an end to Jesus, nor lost time trying to find a true testimony, because they knew that He was blameless. Not to mention that, while the apostles themselves do not create the word of Jesus concerning his resurrection, they believed very strongly, to the point of keeping with all zeal and strength the tomb. Not to mention that, when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, they had no doubts that they had been with Jesus, confirming that they knew and believed that Jesus was not dead, but risen.

In other words, the Pharisees knew exactly who Jesus was, and still did everything to change the opinion of the people against him by virtue of not having pleasure in his goodness. After all, it will steal the control over the population. They chose the legal regime of the Old Testament that gave them field.

As Esau, Behold his problems: do not trust in the love of the father, nor in the love of the Eternal, much less knew valuing what it was right:

·         "And Jacob cozera a stew; and Esau came from the field, and he was tired; and Esau said to Jacob: Let me go, I pray thee, eat this stew red, because I am tired. That is why if called Edom. Then Jacob said: Sell me today to thy birthright. And Esau said: Behold, I am at the point of death; for that will serve me the birthright? Then Jacob said: Swear to me today. And he sware unto him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. And Jacob gave bread to Esau and the stew of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went out. So Esau despised his birthright." (Gn 25.29-34).

For more tired that Esau was, he could have expected that the Eternal touched the heart of his father and this immediately, it would provide the food necessary. But Esau tried, at all costs, obtain and wanted by their own ability, even if it meant playing true blessings outside.

Who despises the best of the eternal for you shall have no pleasure in his goodness. After all, the right of primogeniture was not mere custom of men, but something imposed by Eternal.

You see, the problem is not simply  reject the birthright, but what this really means: he rejected what the Eternal you gave and who had already placed in the heart of his father to give him (see Genesis 27).

But, and here people of Hebrews 6.4-6). Let's see what this people had experienced:

·        Now were once enlightened - received the capacity to love (1 John 1.7; 2.8-11);

·        Have tasted of the heavenly gift - were seated in heavenly places (Eph 1.3; 2.6) received the spiritual blessings, namely, everything that pertain unto life and godliness (2Pe 1.3), things that nobody saw, heard or even imagined exist (1 Corinthians 2.9).

·        Were made partakers of the Holy Ghost - were treated internally with Jesus (Tt 3.4-6) and came to give the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5.22).

·        Have tasted the good word of God - you have heard the voice of Jesus and saw the fulfilment of the same;

·        Proved the virtues of the future - were used by Jesus to operate signs, wonders and miracles, as well as saw their ministerial gifts and spiritual values by acting in them, in their midst and through them.

The such have their names written in the book of life (fully aware of his and everything that He is and represents, but they still:

·        They have trodden the Son of God - after all, once the goodness and mercy of the Eternal are following those who believe (Ps 23.6), someone can only reject the grace of Jesus back to perdition if having over the goodness and mercy of the Eternal, that is Jesus himself.

·        Had to profane the blood of the covenant with which have been sanctified - considered the blood of Jesus as if he were the blood of a simple lamb and purification performed by Jesus as something trivial.

·        Did wrong the Spirit of grace - outraged the Spirit of grace, as if the righteousness which is of the law was more effective than the love of Jesus.

Realize now the crime they have committed?

·         "You are separated from Christ, you who have justified by the law; the grace you have fallen." (Gal 5.4).

The fall mentioned in Hb 6.6 is not a "sin any", much less the output of the individual the religious institution which he joined.

The problem is that they, like goats wanted to rule over the flock (Jer 51) and about the circumstances. So, nothing more suitable to them, seeking to be righteous based on laws in order to qualify for the world has to offer and, thus, they can use the network of ill to get what they wanted (Pv 12.12).

These such, although they had their names written in the book of life, will be scratched, because they rejected everything that the grace represents:

·        Humility (James 5.5-7);

·        Follow the example of Jesus (1 Peter 2.21-24);

·        Serve as an example for the brothers in Christ (1 Peter 5.1-3).

·        Forgiveness (Lk 97.25.4).

Who abandons the grace is agreeing with what the jews did with Jesus. This leads them to crucify him Jesus and expose it to an open shame (since this gives scope for others deem him and everything that he says as a utopia - see 2Tm 3.5).

The proposal of the entire sowing is the harvest. Who apostata of Jesus and His grace, is despising the mode by which the divine power working minds and hearts, preferring to rely on the ministry of condemnation and death (2Co 3.7.9).

For you see this: we share the food when to share with different individuals. We share the pleasure when we rejoice together with the other. We share in the spoils of war when we share with others. Thus, we share the Holy Spirit when we share all that He is and does to those who are of Jesus.

Compassion is to suffer together. Rather than criticize others for errors or absolving them, each one must join the others for helping each other not in faith, but to encourage one another to good works (Heb 3.13; 10.24).

Perhaps you are still with doubt: but after all, there is even the slightest possibility of at least one of these be renewed to repentance? Renewal is the work of the Holy Spirit, and not of man (Tt 3.4-6). And repentance is a gift of the Eternal, is not in the power of man (2Tim 2:2.25).

After having absolute certainty of who Jesus was, they were crucifying him for themselves, as if they were there on the cross aware of everything Jesus did and said, and still wishing that everything that he is sumisse the world in order to be able to lay hold of the legacy of Jesus (as the Pharisees of the parable):

·         "But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come on, let us kill him and the inheritance will be ours." (Mark 14).

·         "But, seeing him the husbandmen, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours." (Luke 20.14)

Renew to repentance  reminds us of baptism for repentance from John, which was a figure that pointed to the true baptism, namely, the baptism with the Holy Spirit (Mt 3:11; Mk 1:8; Lk 3:16), which would baptize the individual in the teachings of Jesus.

As, however, do this with someone who deliberately does not take pleasure in everything that Jesus is?

How repentance is the first step that a sinner must take in order to return to the Eternal, and as the sorrow for sin is useless when there is a sacrificial offering adequate, then there is no possibility of repentance when the only sacrifice valid is rejected.

From the moment that someone who knows well the Jesus and everything it stands for, ONLY THE rejects who takes pleasure in evil (John 3.19-21). As Jesus came to liberate those who were slaves of evil (i.e. they were doing it, not because they were happy, but because they were driven to this), how to save them? What they want is that everyone be ashamed to preach things like virginity, pity, kindness, etc.

You can believe: those who do not believe that only Jesus is worthy of all power, will be happy to anything that makes you have the feeling that you are in control of all things.

Who has the power of evil in his hands, does not want  anyone to love our neighbor as Jesus loved (Jn 13.34.35), because this makes it easier to control the crowd. For both, they sow strife among the people (Pv 6.19) and lead individuals to believe that they can make use of the wickedness to safarem.

What they don't realize is that only a little of the wickedness of the religio-political is placed at their disposal (and this to impair the next). To fall from grace, are caught in this trap and can no longer get out of hands and political and religious leaders, being sentenced to be used by the wicked as well seems to them (see Col 2.18-23).

All because, instead of crucify him the world through the cross of Christ, they prefer to crucify Jesus for themselves.

See the difference:

·        One is the group that sacrifice Jesus to get rid of him.

·        Another is the group of receiving the sacrifice of Jesus and accept crucify him the flesh with its passions and desires in order that Jesus continue living through them.

Many believe an absurd what the jews did with Jesus. However, the bump, what Jesus proved is that even His death can separate him from us. Nothing and no one can separate us from the love of the Eternal which is in Christ Jesus (Romans 8.39). Just ourselves with our sins and root of bitterness (Is 59.1.2; Heb 14).

To be more accurate (Rm 4.25):

·        From the point of view of the malefactors, Jesus gave himself as a lamb to be crucified by evil men in favor of their sins, i.e., so that they could continue to sin;

·        From the point of view of the fair, Jesus rose again to justify them.

Instead of repairing the sinners out, Jesus mends the righteous inside, namely, those who see in Jesus the privilege to live a life of full love of neighbor.

Someone may object: "But there are many promises in Scripture where Jesus promises to save their":

·         "We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not: but what of God is generated is kept to himself, and the evil one not touched ." (1 John 5.18).

·         "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless, with joy, before his glory, the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, now and for ever and ever. Amen." Jd ( 24.25).

·         "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, who gave them me , is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." (John 10.28,29).

It is clear that, as far as it depends upon the Eternal, nobody can separate us from Christ. However, when designing the world, the Eternal created some who, although they were responding well to the call of Jesus, at the end they would depart from Grace. The Eternal, knowing this, put them in a special position in your plan. This is the case, for example, of Judas and of goats of Matthew 25.40-46):

·         "I was with them in the world, kept them in thy name. I have kept those whom thou hast given me, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, so that the scripture might be fulfilled." (Jn 17.12).

But after all, what was contributing to the Jewish brothers returned to Judaism?

Many, because they are going through hard times (Heb 10.34), were going to prefer to see the enemies suffering all the rigor of the law (even having their freedom curtailed and suffering the consequences of their sins and their limitations) to stay looking in the errors of the people the opportunity to connect with them in truth in Christ Jesus.

Others were preferring to return to the legal regime and not be persecuted by the cross of Christ (Phil 5:5).

Not to mention those who were preferring to live by the promises given physical who obeyed the law (Lev 19.35; Ez 20.11,13.21; Rm 10.5) to live being persecuted by grace in favor of rewards especially spiritual (forgetting that nobody can be saved by works of the law, since nobody is able to fulfill it - Gl 2.16; At 15.10).

What is the message? Hebrews 5.14-16 and Hebrews 6 constitute a parenthesis. The author of Hebrews was showing the excellence of the sacrifice of Christ when, in the middle of the explanation, felt the need to stop to treat the immaturity of the Hebrews.

·         "What we have to say, difficult to interpret; because ye did slack to listen. Because, should already be masters at time, still need to make you the teaching which are the first principles of the oracles of God; and ye have done such that ye have need of milk, and not of solid food. Because any who still feeds on milk is not experienced in the word of righteousness: for he is a boy. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

The main message of the passage (Heb 6.4-6) is: FETCH tidy place to the grace of Jesus in our lives.

·         "Therefore, leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, and the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will do, if God permit." (Heb 6:1-3)

·         "Because the earth which drinketh in the rain that often falls upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God; but that produces thorns and briers is condemned, and close is cursing; whose end is to be burned. But you, O beloved, we expect better things, and things that accompany salvation, even if that talk. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love that to with your name you have shown, while have ministered to the saints; and still serve." (Heb 6.7-10).

Note the expression used by the writer of Hebrews: "This will do if God permits it." As the Hebrews had been negligent in listening to the Bible (if deepen in the knowledge of the same and practice it), he feared that the Eternal does not let him teach the Hebrews more deeply.

After all, the individual who receives the part of the Eternal His presence and blessings, but still refuses to forgive those who trespass against him and seek the grace the provision needed to restore the next in truth by him, is increasingly hardening your heart. The follower of Jesus who remains leaning on laws to condemn his brother (Sl 94.20), to conquer what is not to be yours, to put yourself above the other, nearby is the curse and the definitive fall

Instead of waiting to receive rewards in this world and become resentful when they don't come, what each one should expect in grace is the transformation of character of the sinner.

Someone might ask:

·         "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, that it is difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And, again, I say that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. The disciples heard this, they marveled, saying, Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (Mt 19.23-26).

It is obvious that only the eternal can grant us His salvation. By obedience to the law, anyone can receive the benefit, whether physical or spiritual:

·         "Because, which is easier? Say: thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man has in the land authority to forgive sins ( then said to the paralytic ): Arise, take up thy bed, and go to your house." (Mt 9.5,6).

Paul was very clear in that regard:

·         "Because it was impossible for the lawwas weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of the flesh of sin, for sin condemned sin in the flesh;" (Rm 8.3,4).

However, Jesus is not mocked (Gal 6.7).

Consider the case of Ha-Satan. He is someone who meets all the requirements of Hebrews 6.4-6. In that he decided to take the place of the eternal life of angels, he never managed to repent and convert. Even knowing that he is already defeated and the fate that is reserved, even seeing along the centuries, the effectiveness of the work of the Eternal, he still cannot take pleasure in the goodness of the Eternal.

Similarly, the eternal will not save the individual who insists on being guided by law in order to keep everything under your control. He will not save those who wish to rely on their ability to put everyone (including Jesus himself) under his command.

Lastly, what Hebrews 6.4-6 is saying is that we should never abandon the grace of Jesus when things do not seem to be working. One should always remember that our reward is not here and that the law serves only to show the condemnation that hangs over those who surround us if you refuse to let Jesus use us to save them. And if we fail to give herbs meet to Jesus that we sowed before produce thorns and thistles, we condemned to eternal fire.
